This is the Tartan Terracotta rug from Garden Layers, a collection that also includes mattresses, rolls, cushions, beds and side tables, all specifically designed to be used outdoors. Made on mechanical looms with soft polypropylene fibers, its classic tartan style aesthetic mixes orange threads and earth tones. It can be used in combination with any of the elements that make up the Garden Layers collection, and it is especially fitting with the small Checks mattress, the large Diagonal rolls in a light shade, the large diagonal cushions in darker tones, the double Indian beds and the small auxiliary tables. Garden Layers lends itself to combining different patterns as layers -hence the name of the collection.

Patricia Urquiola, designer of the Garden Layers collection Patricia Urquiola is an architect and designer of Spanish origin who settled in Italy after graduating from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1989. After working with Italian masters of design such as Achille Castiglioni and Vico Magistretti, she founded her own studio in 2001. Since then, she has tackled very diverse projects, from furniture and lighting to ephemeral installations or the integral design of hotels. Her sensitivity to traditional handmade objects and international cooperation in the field of handmade productions led to the start of a fruitful collaboration in 2004 with GAN, which continues to this day.
