Crafted from a blend of 50% New Zealand wool and 50% jute, these rugs combine the structure and shine of jute with the softness of wool to create a captivating fusion.

Meet the Visionaries Behind Tatami
Designer Nani Marquina
Nani Marquina's journey into the world of design is a testament to her unwavering belief in her creative vision. In 1987, despite the challenges of the time, she founded her own business, and in 2002, the second generation of her company was incorporated, marking a period of growth and international expansion. True to her design roots, Nani Marquina launched her eponymous brand in a time when contemporary rugs were a rarity in Spain.
After studying industrial design at the Escuela Massana in Barcelona and finding success with her initial textile designs, Nani ventured into the world of rugs and textile products for homes. Her approach was grounded in values such as observation, innovation, and enthusiasm, and she sought to blend traditional craftsmanship and techniques with contemporary design. In 1993, Nani Marquina embarked on a bold venture, relocating her manufacturing facilities to northern India, further infusing craftsmanship and tradition into her brand's identity.
Over the years, Nani Marquina's work has earned numerous accolades, including the National Design Award and the Chamber Award for Design Management in 2005. She has also received nominations for the Príncipe Felipe Award for Company Excellence and the International Women’s Entrepreneurial Challenge Award from the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. Her dedication to the design community is reflected in her roles as Chairwoman of ADP (Professional Design Association) and Red (Reunión Empresas de Diseño). From 2014 to 2019, Nani Marquina served as the President of the FAD (Foment de les Arts i Disseny) in Barcelona.
In recent years, Nani has returned to her creative roots, leading the design team at her company. Together, they've developed one of Nanimarquina's most successful collections to date: Tres.
Designer Ariadna Miquel
Born in Barcelona in 1979, Ariadna Miquel earned her degree in industrial design from Elisava, Escola Superior de Disseny. Her final project received accolades, including the Adi Fad Medal in 2002 from Foment de les Arts i el Disseny. Ariadna's journey led her to collaborate on projects with companies such as Alcatel and Bormioli Rocco. She also participated in exhibitions like Reflexus with Ingo Maurer at the Centre d'Art Santa Mònica and worked on the installation Flux Mundis for the MNAC, Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.
Ariadna's passion for textile materials and production techniques paved her way to Nanimarquina. Since 2003, she has been an integral part of the internal design team, contributing to the development of the brand's collections and collaborating with external partners. Her innovative approach to textures and color, coupled with her hands-on involvement in projects, makes her a driving force behind Nanimarquina's creative endeavors.
